Steve and Sarah Pabody

Triple Wren Farms

In 2012, Sarah and Steve Pabody turned their dream into reality by founding Triple Wren Farms. Together, they've nurtured this first-generation family farm into a vibrant community hub, celebrating the joy of beautiful cut flowers and dahlia tubers. Their farm isn't just about flowers; it's a place where people come together to learn, grow, and celebrate the beauty of nature through workshops and open farm events.

Sarah's passion doesn't stop with flowers. She has a big heart for sharing the beauty of life and faith, creating a space where women can come together to explore and deepen their spiritual journeys. Sarah is the organizational force behind the farm, expertly managing everything from planting to production, and making sure every event goes off without a hitch. With her knack for planning (she's a proud Type 3 wing 2!) and Steve's visionary outlook, they make a dynamic team.

Steve has been integral to Triple Wren's success from the start, blending his marketing and PR savvy with the farm's mission to spread beauty far and wide. He's especially proud of the Legacy Program and the unique Legacy Dahlia Tuber Collection, which reflect his commitment to building relationships within the farming community.

At the heart of it all, Steve is the guiding light for Triple Wren, always looking ahead to ensure the farm's legacy continues to flourish. His dedication not only to the farm but to his family, serving as a steadfast and encouraging presence, truly embodies the spirit of Triple Wren Farms.

Show Notes

  1. Growing dahlias from seeds is a little like playing the lottery.  You never know when you’ll be growing the next sought after variety.

  2. When hybridizers are selecting from their seedlings, they are looking for vigor, foliage color, time to bloom, flower type, quality and quantity of tubers produced.

  3. I love programs like the legacy program and the novice hybridizer programs.  Not all hybridizers had the time, resources, or desire to scale larger numbers of new dahlias for sale.  This program allows them to focus on what they do best and receive royalties for their efforts.

  4. Don’t forget it’s good to give areas of your farm a rest from time to time.  You can rejuvenate these areas with one or more cover crops, building nutrients organically and allowing them the time to break down and enhance your soil.

  5. Lastly,  it’s important to find the work life balance for yourself and your family.  There may be parts of your business you can take a break from or rethink to help you slow down a little and recover.
