Pili Fuentes

Flower House Mexico

My name is Pili Fuentes, and I've been a floral designer since 2014. Over the years, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with some of the most renowned designers in the floral industry—an experience that has deeply enriched both my creativity and my perspective on floral art. In Mexico, I created Las Floristas Mx, a brand focused on designing unique floral experiences for events across the country. My work with Las Floristas has always been rooted in celebrating Mexican culture, beauty, and nature through flowers. I also co-founded EAFG in Europe, a beautiful and ambitious project that, for now, is temporarily on pause. The experience was enriching and brought me closer to the international floral community.

Life took a powerful turn when I went through a personal battle with cancer. That journey transformed me, and from it, Flower House Mexico was born. Together with a passionate team, we launched the first edition, and it was a heartfelt success. Flower House Mexico began with the purpose of giving back—during its first three years, we partnered with the Fundación Casa de la Amistad, which supports children with cancer under the umbrella of the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología in Mexico. Thanks to their support, Flower House evolved into what it is today: a non-profit organization that continues to celebrate flowers with purpose and passion.

Driven by curiosity and a deep respect for nature, I also explored the lifecycle of flowers by working in several flower farms and even managing my own small urban flower cultivation in Mexico. Though I no longer grow flowers—urban floriculture proved to be more complex than expected—the experience helped me understand the journey of each stem from soil to bouquet. Today, I dedicate myself fully to Flower House Mexico, and I also support international florists who come to Mexico for their events—helping them source local flowers, traditional Mexican candles, handmade textiles, and high-quality event materials. It brings me joy to connect global creativity with the richness of Mexican craft and nature. My journey is still blooming, and I feel grateful every day to be surrounded by flowers, community, and purpose.

Show Notes

  1. A continuing theme among some of our best guests is that they take the time to continue to invest in themselves.  Taking workshops from other leading designers, exploring new trends, and learning new techniques to continually perfect their craft and skills has been vital for growth.

  2. I love the way Pili is able to find issues or opportunities to get behind and create community to help fill a need.  Just like she spoke of with the European Association for Flower Growers and Flower House Mexico.

  3. It was great to hear and learn about the flower market in Mexico City.  I thought it was very interesting that the only outside flowers allowed in the country are from Holland.

  4. Pili stressed the importance in having good relationships with the vendors and local farmers.  It’s like anywhere in the world, businesses are built on relationships.

  5. If you’re ever doing florals in Mexico City or the surrounding areas you can reach out to Pili.  She may be available as a resource to help you with sourcing, cargo, logistics, both with flowers and supplies.

  6. Through Pili’s experience with cancer, she came to realize the plight with so many others dealing with cancer.  As a result, she started Flower House Mexico which is now a non profit to help raise money for various cancer charities.

  7. The workshop model for Flower House Mexico is unique.  You have the opportunity to sign up for the designer you want and spend three days with a small group of students diving deeply into the creative and design process for that teacher.

  8. It’s important to listen to your body and stop when it says to stop, rest when it says to rest.

  9. If you have an idea that really resonates or vibrates with you - go for it!
